Time to Have a little fun
The issue is not with the spring, slide or barrel, it is in how it was assembled.
Insert guide rod into bottom of the slide, while holding guide rod in place slide on grip module matching middle groove to middle slide rail above trigger with takedown lever pointed downwards. Then pull slide to the rear and flip takedown lever to the upward position at the groove closest to the front of slide.
If your M1 has become unaligned, that was likely due to when you pulled the charging handle. Use these pictures to fix the alignment issue.
1 - Loosen the circled screw in second picture. Fix alignment (push back in) and tighten back.
